Little Bao's May Chow to Open Happy Paradise This MarchIn just over a month, May Chow will be flying to Bangkok to officially receive the award for2017's Best Female Chef from the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants academy. But instead of resting on her laurels or simply sitting back to enjoy the flood of attention, the chef is already gearing up to launch her third restaurant in 12 months.
Chow revealed to us exclusively that she will be unveiling an exciting new project with an all-star list of collaborators, which includes chef John Javier (previously of Quay, Momofuku Seiobo and Master in Sydney), Proof & Co (the team behind award-winning bar 28 Hong Kong Street), and interior design firm Mash. Named Happy Paradise, the restaurant will have an emphasis on great drinks and technique-driven Chinese cooking.
But lest it sounds like the restaurant will be a more upscale version of Little Bao or Second Draft, Chow reassures us that the place will be more about fun-a late-night place that welcomes all, with edgy music and an artistic vibe "...and maybe drag bingo."
But if there's one thing that won't be on the menu? It's ice cream sandwiches.
